October’s Newsletter

This month sees the clocks go back an hour at 2am on Sunday 25th October and the official goodbye to British Summer Time!

This month we were supposed to have a talk from Newport Mind about living with a lifelong condition and the psychological impact it has on our lives, unfortunately the lady has had to cancel but it’s such an important issue we will be looking for another guest to speak on this subject in the future. We are inviting Anna Pennington from the National Exercise on Referral Scheme coming along to talk about maintain good circulation in the feet and legs this month.

We were invited to run an information stall at the 50+ Information Day at the Newport Centre at the End of September, a huge thank you to Steve for helping me man this stall on the day, there were 86 different organisations and stalls at the event and the information on offer was amazing, I hope if you visited the day you got a lot out of it. There was information and activities not limited to people over 50 too!

We have been invited to hold an information stall at an evaluation/review of people who have attended the X-pert program, this will be on the 22nd October between 1.30 – 3.30pm and is being held at the Ringland Community Centre, Ringland Circle. I’ll be there with a table of booklets and you would be very welcome if you would like to come along and help me. There will also be information from other important links such as the podiatry department.

23rd October between 11am – 2pm, we have been invited to hold an information table at the Admiral Building in Town at a health event they are holding.

We have been invited to hold an information stall at an information event in the Central Area Cluster of Communities First at Pill Millennium Centre on Wednesday 26th November 12pm – 3pm, if anyone is available to “man the table” please let me know.

Next meeting is the 19th November, Martin Davies will be back to discuss more about the medications and what and how they work.

The last meeting of 2015 will be 17th December and we have a talk by Tone Gundersen, a dietician who is going to broach the subject of surviving Christmastime!

Are there any thoughts on if we would like to hold a social gathering before or over the festive season! Ideas please.

Not as much news this month but I hope I have covered it, please make sure your contact details are up to date

If there are any subjects you would like addressed at future meetings please feel free to contact me.
