Yes folks, we are 2 today!!!

It’s been a fantastic journey and I thank you all for coming along with me for the ride and making it so much fun. I have made some fantastic friends along the way and we have had some great talks and above all else we have provided each other with the help and support we have all needed at some point or another, so thank you all.

This month we welcome Martin Davies from Martin Davies’ Chemist on Caerleon Road, back by popular demand, Martin is coming along to talk about Over the Counter (OTC) medications which we may have taken prior to being diagnosed with diabetes but can no longer take, he’s here to explain why! Martin has asked if we could be prompt in starting tonight as he has been asked to speak at a function after us and doesn’t want to let us down, so we will be starting sharply at 7pm tonight.

So, what is coming up over the next few weeks.

On Saturday, we’ve been asked to provide an information table and a presence at a diabetes awareness day at St Paul’s Clinic, Palmyra Place, Newport, NP20 4EJ, behind St Paul’s Church at the bottom end of town. It’s 10 – 4 and I only had confirmation on Tuesday so a short notice one but I shall be there for the day if anyone wants to come and keep me company you would be welcome.

Volunteers Week is 1st-7th June and the Central Volunteering Team have been gaining video clips and responses to post on Social Media about volunteering, it’s something to look out for.

If anyone suffers with neuropathy and would be interested in taking part in a podcast discussing neuropathy, please let me know so I can put you in touch with the Pain Concern Charity who are keen to talk to people with neuropathy. They regularly release podcasts and the aim of which is to provide information and support for people living with pain conditions, the program will focus on prevention, management and support.

Diabetes Week is the 11th – 17th June and this year the focus is on the new strapline – “Know Diabetes, Fight Diabetes”. Our group meeting for June is the 15th June, mid diabetes week. I have some wristbands and postcards for during the week.

Diabetes UK Cymru are launching the Know Type 1 Campaign on Tuesday 13th June 12 – 2pm at the Pierhead Building, at the National Assembly for Wales in Cardiff Bay. If you are interested in attending this free event please let me know and I can send you the link that you need to register for the day. There are refreshments and a light lunch provided.

So, all in all a busy few weeks coming up if you want to get involved.
