July’s Newsletter

Hope you are all enjoying the lovely summer so far.

July sees us holding our first AGM so all officer positions of the committee are up for election. We are going to be looking for Chair, Treasurer, Secretary and a new role for a fund raising officer. As a group we have to look at being self-sufficient, so that means fund raising for the group, it also means recruiting new members so all and any ideas regarding this would be gratefully received.

Valery and I had the pleasure of being invited to London at the beginning of the month to attend the National Inspire Awards from Diabetes UK, and although we didn’t win the National Award I feel so proud to have been part of the group the won the Welsh Regional Award which is all thanks to you because without you the group wouldn’t be as successful as it is so a huge thank you for your support.

Going back to fund raising, we have been approached by Diabetes UK regarding the Big Collection which is over the weekend of the 16th – 17th September in Tesco Stores as a bucket collection, last year the Big Collection Weekend raised over £200,000 for Diabetes UK and the British Heart Foundation. This year we are looking for a team leader to lead a team of collectors to raise money at Tesco Spytty, you don’t have to be on site for the whole weekend but have to be the point of contact for arranging the weekend. If you fancy this, please let Sarah know and she can provide you with the details to register as Team Leader, if you don’t want to be a team leader, how about volunteering with a bucket for a few hours of the two days.

There are a few healthcare events being held over the next few weeks/months where we have been asked to provide an information table similar to the one every month in the group meeting with information leaflets etc. If you are interested in helping at these events let Sarah know and she will provide the dates for you.
